Nordic research prize to Linn Getz!

20.06.2011

Linn Getz is awarded The Nordic Federation of General Practice own prize for outstanding research.

Linn  Getz is part-time Associate professor and researcher at the Department of Public Health and General Practice, Research Unit for General Practice, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway. On a daily basis Linn lives in Iceland and works as a Staff physician at Landspitali University Hopsital, Reykjavik. (Read more on ntnu.no).

As a researcher Linn Getz is interested in the theoretical basis for the medical clinic and research, on how to integrate knowledge from different disciplines, and to search for connections between psyche and soma, biography and biology. There is now irrefutable evidence that mental overload, impowerment and violations are affecting human nervous system, hormone balance, immune function and disease disposition.

The last ten years Linn getz has researched, among other things, the ethical aspects related to the use of ultrasound in pregnancy, and prevention of cardiovascular disease in clinical practice. In 2006 she defended her doctoral thesis on "Sustainable and responsible preventive medicine", where she showed how the practical and ethical dilemmas may arise in connection with the individual-oriented, preventive medical measures.

Read Linn Getz' latest artcicle (2011), published together with her mentor, Anna Luise Kirkengen, and Erling Ulvestad. It is first of it's kind in The Journal of The Norwegian Medical Association - containing new knowledge buid on new analysis and sythesis based on older knowledge, and not on new empirical data: The human biology - saturated with experience

We heartly congratulate Linn Getz with the prize!
